Though our founder, Victor Rosario, left Puerto Rico at a young age, the island never left him. While serving in the military, Victor fell in love with the heat and savor of hot sauce, and always had a bottle in his house. At family gatherings and holiday dinners, someone would make Pique–a vinegar based sauce infused with aji caballero, a pepper native to la Isla Del Encanto. Over the years, he pursued a great Puerto Rican style hot sauce, to no avail. So he decided to create his own. He researched the flavors typical to the Caribbean, including cilantro, culantro and oregano brujo. After trial and error and many adjustments, he finalized his recipe for the Original Vic's Hot Sauce.
